Neil Wright is an award-winning art director and designer with more than 20 years in the business. His work spans branding, packaging, print, web, illustration and environmental graphics, for global names like Activision, Disney Interactive, Konami and Citibank and for the regional businesses and nonprofits he works with today.

A couple of years ago Neil struck out on his own and founded Wright Design. He had the talent, the client list and a deep body of work. What he needed was a home for it: a website that showed who he is, what he does and what he can do for a new client, in a way that looked and felt like Neil.

A Designer’s Site

Is the First

Portfolio Piece

For a designer, the website is the first piece of work a prospective client ever sees. It is judged before a single project is opened. If it looks like a template, it undercuts everything in it.

Neil’s work had spent two decades living in other people’s brands: agency credits, client launches, campaigns with someone else’s name on the door. Now it needed to be gathered, sorted and presented under his own name. And it had to stay easy to follow. A buyer looking for a designer is not looking for a puzzle. They want to see the work, understand the range and know how to get in touch.

Let the Work

Do the

Talking

Neil’s work is bold, clean and confident, and it speaks for itself. So the site’s job was to get out of its way. We kept the structure simple and gave the images room: big, full-width visuals, generous white space and very little between a visitor and the projects.

Then we built Neil’s own style into the frame around it. The oversized “W” mark from his brand anchors the hero and the page headers. His deep navy, coral red and purple carry through every page, and one clean typeface keeps it all quiet enough for the work to stand out.

Built Around

How Neil Works

Neil knows exactly what good design looks like, so we worked side by side with him. He brought the eye and the brand; we brought the structure, the build and the technical answers. We worked in short rounds, Neil reacting to real pages in the browser, so every detail was something he had seen and approved, not something he had to imagine from a mockup.

A Portfolio

That Sorts Itself

The heart of the site is a portfolio that is easy to browse and easy to grow. Projects sit in a filterable grid right on the home page. A visitor can tap Brand Design, Print & Packaging or Web Design and the grid rearranges to show just that kind of work. Every project opens into its own page: a full-width visual story running from logo to stationery, vehicles, signage, packaging and trade show displays, followed by a carousel of more projects to keep the visitor moving.

Adding a new project is as simple as writing a post and dropping in images. The grid, filters and “More Projects” carousel update on their own, so the portfolio keeps up with Neil instead of the other way around.

Regional Food Bank brand on trucks, signage, mugs and warehouse banners, designed by Wright Design

From Logo

to Loading

Dock

Each project page shows a brand the way it actually lives in the world. Regional Food Bank’s new identity runs from the logo and its fruit and vegetable variations to stationery, food trucks, cargo vans, warehouse banners, mugs and a farm mailer. Crisafulli Mechanical’s brand appears on a building sign and a scratched-metal logo. Martin Electric’s runs through stationery, an interior wall, a website and a trade show booth.

Rose Waldorf, Baz X and Dreamlab round out the range with packaging, print and brand work. Together they show what a prospect most needs to know: Neil does not just design a logo. He builds the whole brand and carries it through every place a customer will see it.

A Site That

Closes the Sale

Every page leads to the same next step: a conversation with Neil. The contact page invites visitors to share their project, their goals and where they are stuck. When a project is underway, clients can pay their invoices right on the site through a secure online payment form, so the whole relationship, from first look to final invoice, runs through one professional home.

A Place I’m

Proud to Send Clients

“For years my work lived inside other people’s brands. Rampant Imaginations helped me bring it all home. The site looks like me, it’s easy for clients to find their way around, and when I’m talking with a prospect I can just send them the link and let the work speak. It has already helped me close new business.”
